About Me

Hi, I'm Jasmine. Life has been challenging since birth. I was born six weeks early to an alcohol and drug-addicted woman. I left the hospital five weeks later with a white foster family who ended up adopting me after my birth mother signed away her rights.

No one knew what I would be able to do. My parents took me to all kinds of therapy: speech therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, etc. They also put me in gymnastics, soccer, basketball, music, and church. Mom was going to put me in the neighborhood school, but she was told that I would be bussed to a nearby city, so she decided to homeschool me instead! Even after Dad left us, Mom continued to teach me everything I needed to know to be able to take care of myself. She even sent me to a culinary arts summer camp one year! That was the best!

I attended an online charter school my last 3 years of high school and graduated in 2011. I got job training from Goodwill and Voc Rehab, and was hired by both the cafeteria and the fast food place that trained me.

I also got my driver's license! I surprised doctors and therapists at what I can do. I gave a speech in October 2013 at a Voc Rehab luncheon, where I earned a recognition award. I do have a disability, but most people don't know it. They just see a cheerful girl whose speech sounds like she is from another country. (Seriously, people ask me all the time where I'm from. I'm from here!)

I love my mom, photography, music, food, anime, and nail polish. I have two cats and an adopted brother. I will never ever smoke, drink, or do drugs. I'm glad my birth mom didn't abort me. I love pretty things! And I love Jesus!
