Catching Up!

It’s been a long time since I have blogged. I’ve been busy at work, and I update my Facebook page more than this blog. Sorry!

It’s a new year, 2014, and I will be on here more often instead of watching YouTube videos all day.  j/k, but seriously, what better way to unwind after a hard day on my feet at work than to watch funny videos? :-D

New things I made last year or plan to make before Valentine's Day:
  • Star Crackers, both savory and cinnamon sugar
  • Chocolate-covered peanut butter Ritz cracker cookies
  • Red Velvet cookies dipped in White Vanilla Coating
  • Chocolate Boxes (soon - maybe tonight)

I love to make all kinds of peanut brittle, so I offered a workshop on how to make peanut brittle in December. I may do that again this year.

I also saved my mom’s life in July when I rushed her to the hospital in the middle of the night. The surgeon said she could have died. That was the scariest thing ever! She got to come home 9 days later, and I took good care of her. Don’t worry. She’s okay now.

I won tickets to go up in a helium balloon last fall, so we went to Pigeon Forge and did that. It was so fun! I won a grocery store gift card that I used for Christmas dinner. :-)

Send me an e-mail if you want me to make you something, or check out my Blue Ribbon Treats page on Facebook!

Christmas Is Coming, and I'm Ready!

Sorry to disappear on you, but I’ve been busy. For awhile I was working two jobs, but now I just work one and still make things on the side to sell.

The truth is, blogging is not fun. Facebook is more fun. And I have my own page there! It's easier to post new photos of my products, and they are organized into albums there. So, if you are interested, go to Blue Ribbon Treats and check out all the pretty things I make!

I made some car soaps last week for fun. My little brother and baby sister will like them. Aren’t they cute? They can be almost any color and are just a dollar each. (click on the photo for a better view)

So, I may stop in here now and then. I love the countdown to Christmas thing! But check out my Facebook page, okay?

Merry Christmas!

I Love It When This Happens!

Last week I took some fresh-baked dreamsicle cookies to my voice coach. This week when I walked into the studio, the first thing he said was, "Jasmine! I loved those cookies you made! You really should market them! You have a winner!"

My favorite part of baking (other than eating the goodies) is making people happy. Those cookies made my grandma happy, they made my uncle happy (I traded him for some minor car repairs), and they made my voice coach happy. They make me and my mom happy too! If you have never tried a dreamsicle cookie, you don't know what you're missing!

My Three Easter Treats

Sorry no time to blog! I am working two part-time jobs! One serving drinks at a cafeteria-style restaurant, and one in fast food, mixing up the ice cream drinks and shakes and such. I love it!

Here's what I made for Easter:

1) Easter dipped peanut brittle, orange flavored, and sprinkled with fun. :-)

2) Dreamsicle cookies - my grandma loved these and went home with the recipe!

3) Popcorn cake for Easter/Mom's birthday

Just so you know ...

Hi! It's me, Jasmine. I'm still here! lol  I was going to make candy and cake balls for Valentine's Day, but then the restaurant started calling me in a LOT so I haven't had time to make anything. So I'm glad I didn't tell you that I was going to!

But, if you ever want anything, just let me know. I will do my best for you.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

Two Weeks Till Christmas!

It's two weeks till Christmas! YAY! I've been working hard to get ready for the Christmas Homeschool Holiday Fair at Springwell on Wade Hampton. It's this Tuesday, all day long! I've got a big selection of stocking stuffers: handmade pins, magnets, and ornaments, and soaps, and I will have peanut brittle and cake bites too. Probably some chocolate lollipops too if I get to them. It's going to be great!

Did you know that it takes three days to make a pin, magnet, or ornament? It's true! These one-of-a-kind items take three days. Here's how it happens:

Day 1: The paper is the most important part. Newspaper is too weak and gray for this craft. I use sturdy paper plates and sometimes typing paper. I make the paper pulp and then press it into molds. (I have lots!) Let dry. Usually takes 24 hours.

Day 2: Paint items. When dry, apply sealant.

Day 3: Glue pinbacks or magnets onto finished products. The ones that are ornaments get holes and hooks added.

The finished product is sturdy and will last many years as long as it is not run through a washing machine. LOL My mom has some pins she made in the 90s!

Here are some of my newest ones:

Pins can be worn on tops and sweaters, scarves, and hats. Pins them to their Christmas stockings! They are $3 each, or two for $5!

See ya Tuesday? I'll be there!

DING DING DING! Thanksgiving is HERE!

My countdown meter says today is Thanksgiving Day. It doesn't feel like it to me. I have to go to work today! I work in a restaurant that gets a LOT of business on Thanksgiving. :-p  I was supposed to go visit Grandma in Illinois, but then I got this job, and that was the end of a family Thanksgiving for me. I would love a job where I didn't have to work on holidays!!!

Maybe someday Jasmine's Blue Ribbon Treats and more will be a big enough business that I can just do that. Happy Smiles!  Yesterday I sold a blue angel pin and a red poinsettia magnet. They are handmade, one-of-a-kind things for just $3 each. It takes me three days to make them. Maybe I will share the details with you sometime.

Have a happy Thanksgiving holiday. And if you are going to shop for Small Business Saturday, think of me! I've got pins, magnets, soaps, and candies! Lots of stocking stuffers and sweets!

New Handmade Paper Mache Things!

I don't know why my profile pic and headline pic are gone, but I don't have time to worry about that. I have been busy creating wonderful new items for Christmas! As always they are $3 each or four for $10. They would make great stocking stuffers!

I've got ornaments now as well as my pins (brooches) and magnets. Lots of pretty things in my pretty world! Enjoy looking around!

I am ready to take candy orders too. I make all flavors of peanut brittle and also chocolate dipped peanut brittle. My dad already put in his order for some of that. :-)  Too bad he doesn't want to pay for it. He always asks for it as a gift! I have chocolate pops and cake bites too, don't forget!

Holiday Items Coming Soon!

I'm sorry I haven't posted in a while. I've been busy with a job. I'm an adult now, going to work! But I haven't given up my Pretty World! I have a new cookie recipe, I still make candy and soap, and I'm working on my inventory of Christmas items: ornaments, pins, and magnets! It's gonna be awesome! Pictures coming soon. Get ready!

Increasing my Inventory! It's All Good!

I took my wares to a flea market this weekend and shared a table with my mom. This flea market doesn't allow table vendors to sell food, so I couldn't take any treats like peanut brittle, cake balls, or brownies, but I had an assortment of pretty soaps. I made a soap tree display. Isn't it pretty? My aqua stars were jasmine scented, my rose soaps were rose scented, and my purple flower and tri-color star were wild berry scented. I don't remember what scent the soaps with toys are, but the kids sure loved them! I was mad when a dad told his little girl that she didn't need any soap! Everybody needs soap, right? But she put her money away, and we were both sad.

I also made a large assortment of paper pulp pins. I learned that I should call them paper mache even though I don't use flour paste to make them. I think the hamburger pins are my favorite, but I like them all.

I didn't make a lot of money. Someone told me that summertime isn't the best time to sell at a flea market, so I will probably try again in the fall. It's fun to have a table at the flea market. I like to make money, and I also like to see all the different people and their dogs that come by!

New Summer Soaps! New Scent!

I decided to try to make some striped soap, red white and blue for the 4th of July! Here's my 2nd effort. It's wild berry scented and smells good enough to eat!

Then I decided to mix some colors to make some berry colored flowers with that new wild berry scent. They smell so good!!!

Star soaps are a dollar each with a minimum three-dollar order.

Summer flowers are two dollars each with a minimum four-dollar order. I can make lots of different colors if you want to coordinate soaps with your washroom. :-)

Father's Day Brittle

So I've been busy graduating and job hunting these days. I want a good job in the food industry so I can keep doing what I love and earn money for a car and other things an adult like me needs!

Anyway, this weekend I am making hot and spicy peanut brittle. My dad likes spicy food, so I know he will love this candy! I'm also going to make cashew brittle.

So, if anybody local would like to order some homemade brittle, it's not too late! It's $6 per half pound. ($7 if you want it coated in chocolate)

Happy Father's Day to all the good dads out there!

Anybody want to Bless their Mom with Cake Balls or Peanut Brittle?

Just thought I'd ask! It's not too late for people who know me to order some pretty cake balls or special peanut brittle to surprise their moms with. My peanut brittle can be ordered chocolate-covered for a deluxe treat. I can make pretty hand soaps in a variety of shapes, colors, and scents as well.

Can you guess what I'm giving my mom?

Happy Mother's Day!

New! Easter Cross Pins!

I have a new handmade item for Easter. It's a cross pin made out of sequins and jewel glue (the kind that can be washed). I have lots of different colors of sequins. Here are three samples. I don't know why there is a glow around two of the pins. Anyway, I'm selling these for $3 each. Also, any of my other pins -- ladybugs, butterflies, frogs, and flowers -- are just $3 apiece. Cute Easter gift idea, right?

Don't forget that I make your favorite flavors of peanut brittle! I make yummy cake balls. And I make pretty soaps. Maybe you should add a bar of soap to your kids' Easter baskets. After they get candy all over their hands and faces, they can take a bath! LOL

Easter and Mother's Day!

Easter is April 24 this year. Mother's Day is May 8! I would love to make some special candy or decorative soaps for you, or maybe a beautiful butterfly or flower paper pulp pin! My Easter cake balls will be chocolate dipped in a white candy coating and sprinkled with colorful candy sprinkles. A cost for a dozen cakeballs is just $6.00!  A half-pound of peanut brittle is $6.00. It's $6.50 if you want marshmallows or red hots added. A half-pound of chocolate-dipped peanut brittle is $7.00.

Maybe you don't want to fill your Easter basket with calories. I have some pretty flower soaps! You just let me know what color and what scent you want, and I can make some special glycerin soaps for you! I also make fun soap with toys inside for children. Click here to see those soaps.

I have lots of different molds for my paper pulp jewelry as well. I've got butterflies, ladybugs, flowers, frogs, and ice cream cones! These brooches are just $3 apiece! Click here to check some of them out.

Animal Chocolate Pops!
I hope you will think of me when you start planning your Easter baskets and Mother's Day gifts. Jasmine's Blue Ribbon Treats and More won't let you down! (I need to make money for my prom and for my school's trip to Carowinds! I am graduating from high school in June!)

Candy and cake balls are for local delivery only, but I can mail soap and brooches. Thank you!

St. Patty's Day!

I just wanted to let you know that I'm going to make green dipped peanut brittle for St. Patty's Day! It will be fun!

I'm also thinking ahead to Easter. I'm going to be making cake bites coated in white candy and sprinkled with rainbow sprinkles. They will be pretty and yummy and perfect for Easter!
